2018 Blue Marlin Coin
The Cayman Monetary Regulatory Authority International (“Cmrai” or “the Authority”), in collaboration with Scottsdale Mint, proudly presents the latest additions to the Cayman Islands Atlantic Blue Marlin Coin collection series – the 2018 editions. These new coins include the one ounce .999 Silver Bullion coin, one ounce .999 Silver Commemorative coloured coin, one ounce .999 Gold Bullion coin, and one ounce .999 Gold Commemorative coloured coin. The design, inspired by the Blue Marlin, features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side, with the Blue Marlin depicted on the reverse.
The Blue Marlin is currently listed as a threatened species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature due to overfishing. As a popular sport fishing destination, the Cayman Islands encourages eco-tourism and sustainable fishing practices, including the “catch and release” programme.
The two silver coins are available for purchase, while pre-payment orders are being accepted for the two gold coins. These coins would make an excellent Christmas gift for any coin collector.
