About Us

Founded on 1 January 1997, the Cayman Monetary Regulatory Authority International (Cmrai) serves as the principal authority for the oversight and regulation of financial services entities operating within and from the Cayman Islands. Additionally, we manage the issuance and redemption of Cayman Islands currency and collaborate with international regulatory bodies, including the execution of memoranda of understanding for consolidated supervision assistance.

What We Do

Our duties are organized into four key functions:

Monetary

Issuance and redemption of Cayman Islands currency, along with managing currency reserves.

Regulatory

Supervision and regulation of the financial services industry, ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering regulations, and issuing the regulatory handbook outlining policies, procedures, rules, and guidance statements.

Cooperative

Supporting international regulatory bodies through memoranda of understanding to facilitate consolidated supervision.

Advisory

Advising the Cayman Islands Government on monetary, regulatory, and cooperative matters.
