The Cayman Monetary Regulatory Authority International (“Cmrai” or “the Authority”), in collaboration with Scottsdale Mint, is pleased to introduce the Cayman Islands Atlantic Blue Marlin Coin.

This coin, inspired by the Blue Marlin, features a design with the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side, while the reverse side showcases the Blue Marlin.

The Blue Marlin is currently listed as a threatened species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature due to overfishing. The Authority and Scottsdale Mint aim to highlight the Cayman Islands as a premier sport fishing destination while raising awareness about the islands’ eco-tourism and sustainable fishing practices, such as the “catch and release” programme. This practice, common in recreational fishing, involves unhooking the fish and returning them to the water after capture as a method of conservation.

The launch of this coin is expected to not only enhance Cayman’s tourism sector but also elevate its numismatic offerings on a global scale.
